Hi!

I’m Erica Smith.

Erica Smith, a sex educator with long brown hair, wearing red lipstick and eye makeup, gold hoop earrings, and a necklace with a pendant. She has a colorful tattoo of a bird and flowers on her chest and is wearing a black top and a patterned jacket.
  • I am an experienced, award winning, and internationally recognized sexuality educator.

My main area of focus is sex education for people leaving high-control religions.

My clients say that I’m easy to talk to, empathetic, warm, funny, and supportive. If you’ve ever felt embarrassed about your lack of information or experience when it comes to sex, I’m the person you want to talk to!

In 2019, I developed the Purity Culture Dropout™ Program to help people learn all of the sex education that they missed growing up in purity culture. Under the PCD™ name, I offer intensive individual work, a private community for sex ed and purity culture healing, support groups focusing on LGBTQ+ identity and divorce, webinars, one day intensives, and more.

I provide one-on-one education and support sessions to anyone seeking assistance with sexuality issues, regardless of whether religious sexual shame is a factor for you. The education I provide is comprehensive, medically accurate, LGBTQ+ inclusive, trauma informed, and compassionate. I also offer consultation to established and emerging sexuality professionals, therapists and social workers.

  • I have been a sexuality educator for 25 years,

receiving my BA in Women’s Studies from Penn State University and my Master of Education from Widener University's Center for Human Sexuality Studies. For the majority of my career, I provided comprehensive sex education, HIV prevention services, and support to young women and LGBTQ+ youth detained in Philadelphia’s juvenile justice system.

The cornerstone of my work is the belief that access to sexuality education is a key component to wellness and equality for all. I have seen the life-changing impacts of sex ed in my work, whether my clients are trans teens in detention, “late bloomers” coming out of purity culture, middle aged Christian moms, or senior citizens exploring their sexuality with curiosity and joy.

I am based in Philadelphia, PA but conduct work virtually with clients all over the world.
